Eugene Andrew Cernan (b. March 14, 1934, Chicago, Illinois-d. January 16, 2017, Houston, Texas), American astronaut, naval aviator, electrical engineer, aeronautical engineer and fighter pilot, left his mark on the history of exploration by flying three times into space, twice to the moon.
